Find Flooring Pros is a nationwide directory of flooring businesses built from public data. This page explains, honestly and in plain language, how we build listings, what we check, what we do not check, and how our educational content is researched. The goal is to make flooring research clearer — not to replace a homeowner's own due diligence.

1. Where our listings come from

Listings are compiled from public business information, including business names, addresses, phone numbers, and websites that businesses publish about themselves; public mapping and business-directory profiles; company websites and public social profiles; public review and rating signals; and public service-category information. We organize that public information into city, state, service, and business-profile pages.

We do not claim that every listing has been contacted, visited, owner-verified, or manually inspected. Most records are reviewed public data, not owner-verified records.

2. Automated structural checks

Before a listing is published, it passes a set of deterministic, automated structural checks. A record must have an identifiable business name, a real location, a flooring-related service category, and a usable contact path (phone, website, email, or public social profile) when available. We also measure description uniqueness and length so that templated, low-information pages can be kept out of the search index without removing the listing itself.

These automated checks are applied consistently to the whole dataset, but they are structural — they confirm a listing is plausibly real and reachable, not that the business is licensed, insured, or recommended.

3. Selective manual enrichment

A smaller subset of listings receives manual enrichment, where a person reviews the public source, normalizes services and categories, and may add context such as showroom type or service area. Manual enrichment is selective, not exhaustive: it is applied where it adds the most value, and the absence of manual enrichment does not mean a listing is inaccurate. The ordinary state of a listing is "compiled public record," not "manually verified."

4. Owner corrections and claims

Business owners can claim a profile or submit corrections at no cost. When an owner or authorized representative claims a listing, we confirm ownership before publishing any change, and only then may a "Verified Owner" label appear. A claim or correction improves accuracy for that record but does not change how we describe the dataset as a whole.

5. Review dates and refresh cadence

Public business information changes without notice — phone numbers, hours, websites, and even closures. We do not have a real-time feed from any business. Listings are re-checked and refreshed on a periodic schedule rather than continuously, so we recommend confirming current details directly with the business before relying on them. Each listing page exposes a correction path so visitors and owners can flag changes.

6. Limits of this directory

  • We do not verify licensing, insurance, bonding, or warranty coverage for any listing, and we do not guarantee pricing, availability, or workmanship.
  • We do not endorse any business, and a listing is not a recommendation.
  • Public rating and review-count signals are shown when available; we do not independently audit those third-party review counts.
  • Not every listing has been contacted or owner-verified. Where owner verification exists, it is labeled explicitly.

7. How our educational content is researched

Our guides, cost references, and calculators are written to give homeowners practical research context. National guides cite their sources in a visible "Sources & Further Reading" section on the article, using external-safe links. Educational content is informational only and is not legal, financial, building-code, or professional installation advice.

8. Source hierarchy

When researching educational content, we generally rely on sources in this order:

  1. Manufacturer and industry technical documentation (e.g., wear-layer, AC-rating, and subflatness specs).
  2. Recognized industry and trade associations and standards bodies.
  3. Government and consumer-protection resources (e.g., contractor licensing boards).
  4. Reputable independent publishers and long-form journalism.
  5. Corroborated community discussion, used as a signal rather than a primary source.

We prefer primary sources over secondary summaries, we favor recency for pricing and product claims, and we seek corroboration before publishing specific numbers.

9. Editorial independence

Advertising, sponsorship, or featured-placement revenue does not determine which businesses are listed or how educational content is written. Our core recommendation is unchanged regardless of how the site is supported: verify license status, insurance, references, written estimates, and contract terms directly with any flooring company before hiring. See our advertising disclosure for details.
